March 2010 Meeting: Intro to OpenWebStudio
This month, Kevin Schreiner, Chief Software Architect at R2integrated, talks about his brainchild OpenWebStudio (OWS.)
OWS is a robust tool used for building data bound forms, modules, utilities and more. Anyone, anywhere can use OWS to create bullet proof solutions quickly and easily. This demonstration will cover three major topics of OpenWebStudio.
First, an introduction to the platform, demonstrating what it can do, and why you would want to use it rather than classic .Net development practices.
Second, a demonstration of building a standalone module from the ground up directly within the confines of your DotNetNuke site. The samples will reveal the capabilities of the platform to a greater degree, allowing a basic understanding of the interactive structure of the framework.
Third and finally, a demonstration of building a module meant as an extension to an existing third-party module.
The meeting is set for Thursday, March 25 at 6pm at Laticrete International.
As the Chief Software architect, Kevin Schreiner’s role is to lead and evangelize many of the leadership and early adoption positions at R2i. He is the key engineer behind popular DotNetNuke modules including DNN core Map Module and R2i OpenWebStudio, a widely popular development platform for building custom modules. Since DNN version 1.x Kevin has been extending and evangelizing the project. In 2009, Kevin was elected DNN Core member for his assistance and contribution to the community. In 2008 and 2009 Kevin was selected as one of only 20 worldwide speakers (out of hundreds of applicants) for the DNN Open Force conferences in Las Vegas.
Please note, this is our second meeting at an earlier time (6 pm) and new location.
