ok all - i have a question that some of you may be in the same boat! i'm receiving "critical update available" in my 4.08 and 5.00.01 sites - i did some research and dnn states that my sites are vulnerable to sql injections, among other things.

have any of you experienced this? are you upgrading? i'm going to bite the bullet and update the sites - just didn't want to! but fear has taken over! so i was wondering if anyone out there has gone thru this.

thanks and see you all next week!

Mary - you are getting the "critical update" warning due to security issues with your current version. I definitely encourage you to upgrade.

I've got the same scenario, except I'm currently sitting on version 4.05.05 a lot of what I'm reading is saying I can't upgrad to the current version (05.01.04); I'm going to need to do a fresh install. Is that correct?

Hi Vin and welcome to the group!

Sure you can upgrade to 5.x from 4.5.5, but not "straight." I recommend you follow this upgrade path. The most likely issue that you might run into is incompatibility of potential 3rd party modules. So you need to research these first before attempting any DNN upgrade.

And as always, make sure you have bulletproof backups for every step of the way.

Let us know if you have further questions and hope to see at one of our upcoming meetings.
